I you saw part one, which you should see before this one, you know that I dropped the American couple off in Manjimup to catch a bus to Albany. So now I had to decide where to go. So after checking Wikicamps, i decided on a campsite along Boa Landing Rd about 40 km from Manjimup. there is a campsite there at Grass Tree Hollow, called Snotty Gobble loop, which is where I went. Now this is a National Park campsite of about 8 sites, about 100m from a lovely creek. You have to pay about $15 per night here. However, they are not taking cash anymore, so you have to phone or email (or go into their offices in Pemberton or Manjimup), but as there is not phone or internet service, you cannot do either. (I am now waiting until Monday when their offices open to call them and pay.)
It was a lovely spot. Very peaceful as there was no-one else around, which surprised me. i did a lovely night walk with no torches, and just marveled at the stars. I was able to have a campfire, which made all the difference. The next morning I woke up to a lovely gentle rain. However, when i put my foot down off of my stretcher, i felt water in the floor. It seems that my tent was sitting in a puddle, and even though the tent was not leaking, the floor/tub was. It is about 12 years old, and I guess had done its time, and the seams were letting water in the bottom. Therefore, I had to pack everything up wet, and come back home, instead of staying another night like I had wanted to. this turned out to probably be a good idea, as when i got radio reception, i found out that there were weather alerts for strong winds and rain for Perth and the South-West. So a good thing i headed home when i did. I did feel a bit of remorse that i wasn't still on the track, hunkered down with other hikers in one of the huts.. would have been a great experience.
Still when i got home, I could barely walk and took a lovely long bath for my body. it took me a couple of days to wash and dry everything out as it rained for the next few days in Perth.
Anyway, back to school tomorrow, so will get this vlog up and running.
Thanks for watching..
cheers,
Dingo.
